Facing My AI Twin

We’re all trying to wrap our heads around AI, which was echoed by parents and teens in the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) report Generative AI: Emerging Habits, Hopes and Fears. Parents and teens are excited for the possibilities but share fears of genAI contributing to job loss, spreading of false information, loss of critical thinking skills (parents) and new forms of cyberbulling (teens). So here’s two ideas to help us caregivers learn more:

  1. I’m experimenting with all sorts of AI tools for Betweened, including testing ai-generated content creation. My experience Facing My AI Twin has lots of opportunities for interesting chats. (Spoiler -- creating an AI avatar of yourself is fascinating, a little creepy, and not quite there yet.)

  2. If you followed my post about turning AI errors into a game for critical thinking, here’s a follow-up conversation idea — how stolen AI-generated images are duping people (404Media). Maybe you’ve come across some of the examples they share?
